In Uttar Pradesh, Congress has announced the names of candidates on all except two seats in its share. But the two seats where candidates have not been fielded yet are Amethi and Rae Bareli. If sources associated with the Congress party are to be believed, now the decision on these two seats can be taken in the last week of April. Actually, elections are to be held in Rae Bareli and Amethi in the fifth phase, the election notification of which will come into effect from April 26. However, due to Congress not declaring candidates on these two seats, many discussions are taking place in the political circles.

Eventually Congress left out Rae Bareli and Amethi in its another list for Uttar Pradesh. According to sources associated with the Congress Party, discussions were held regarding the candidates for Rae Bareli and Amethi seats, but the name of any candidate has not been finalized. It is being told that when the list of candidates of Uttar Pradesh was being declared on Wednesday, the list of candidates of Rae Bareli and Amethi was put on hold due to the fifth phase of voting. According to sources, it had already been agreed before the meeting that the candidates for Rae Bareli and Amethi would not be announced on Wednesday. Because the nomination last date for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections is May 3 and the process of filing nominations will start from April 26. Therefore, the candidates for these two seats can be announced only around April 26.

According to sources associated with the Congress Party, till now no concrete strategy has been made on the speculations being made on Rae Bareli seat. That is, in the absence of Sonia Gandhi, there were discussions about a member from the Gandhi family contesting the elections. According to sources, as of now no one from the Gandhi family has come forward to contest elections from these two seats. However, survey has been conducted thrice on Rae Bareli seat. In this, a survey has also been conducted in large numbers personally through telephone. According to experts, till now the survey is confirming how strong this seat is for the Gandhi family in the absence of Sonia Gandhi.

However, if political experts are to be believed, there has never been such a delay in the selection of candidates in Rae Bareli and Amethi before. Senior journalist Himanshu Trivedi says that these two seats, Amethi and Rae Bareli, were considered to be declared with already decided candidates. But this time, as soon as Sonia Gandhi refused to contest elections from Rae Bareli and wrote a letter, speculations started as to who would be the candidate from the Gandhi family. Apart from this, after Rahul Gandhi lost the elections, there were speculations in Amethi whether Rahul would contest again or not? Himanshu says that now that the Congress seats which are part of the alliance in Uttar Pradesh have been decided, the non-declaration of candidates from Amethi and Rae Bareli is giving rise to many discussions on the seats inherited by the Gandhi family.

There are also discussions taking place in the political circles of Uttar Pradesh whether no one from the Gandhi family will contest on these two seats this time. Political expert and senior journalist Nasruddin says that Congress is already contesting elections on 17 seats. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, Congress workers have been working hard on all the seats for some time. Although elections cannot be contested on all seats in a political alliance, it is also certain that if no one from the Gandhi family contests elections in Uttar Pradesh, it will definitely affect the morale of the workers. A senior leader of the Congress Party believes that one or both of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi should contest elections in Uttar Pradesh. He says that victory or defeat can have its place, but by entering the electoral fray, a positive message will definitely reach the workers, which will be like a tonic for Congress in Uttar Pradesh.
